Jean-Michel Basquiat is well known for using social commentary in his paintings to identify with his experiences in the Black community of his time, as well as attacks on power structures and systems of racism. Basquiat was also known for using a crown motif as a way of celebrating Black people as majestic royalty or deeming them saints.
The Basquiat #8 400%+100% bearbrick set in black and gold was adapted from one of his works, 600 Dollars in Dimes (1982 - 83).
